Situation at Emtek Prior to Cloud Migration

Emtek Products, part of the AssaAbloy Group, is a leader in access solutions with a focus on door and cabinet hardware. To support its complex business requirements, the client had been using Oracle eBusiness Suite (EBS) for many years, leveraging its extensive functionality for Financials, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing. Emtek’s EBS instance had many customizations to fit its unique business needs, which resulted in complex and expensive updates.

Ultimately, aging infrastructure and an unsupported version of EBS necessitated an upgrade of Emtek’s EBS instance. Additionally, Emtek faced the following challenges with its legacy technology stack:

  • Inability to develop a future roadmap
  • Incompatibility with third-party applications
  • Vulnerability due to outdated security patching

In order to modernize business operations, Emtek planned to migrate EBS and its analytics component, Oracle Discoverer, from its own data center to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
