Situation

The Port of Oakland is a major container ship facility located in Oakland, California, in the San Francisco Bay.  The Port had been using Oracle E-Business Suite Financials & HCM applications to run its accounting and HR functions since 2011, however the Port was not current on the Oracle version releases. The hardware hosting its applications had aged and needed a technology refresh. The Port therefore sought to upgrade its Oracle EBS applications to the latest release of Oracle applications and migrate to a new server configuration.

The Port of Oakland sought the following benefits from its upgrade:

  • Enable future enhancements available in the upgraded software
  • Move onto a supported Database
  • Improve month-end close processes
  • Remove repetitive manual processes
