A Commitment to Community Service
The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) is the largest rental housing owner in the City of Chicago. Its vision is to foster strong, vibrant communities throughout Chicago by increasing affordable housing choices for low-income families. Recognizing a need to modernize its HR operations with an intuitive cloud solution, CHA sought an implementation service provider with expertise in HCM, as well as a desire to serve the community.
The chosen business partner would collaborate with the Workforce Opportunity Resource Center (WORC) to provide work opportunities to qualified CHA residents. The program would model a forward-thinking environment for other city and county agencies by providing low-income residents with the tools needed for individual economic development.
CHA was seeking more than a business partnership. The organization was looking for a commitment to serve the community.

AST’s nearly three decades of expertise in modernizing HR operations with innovative HCM solutions, coupled with its strong desire to serve, made this a natural partnership with the Chicago Housing Authority to implement Oracle HCM and make an impact in the community.
AST offered a comprehensive 90-day paid internship teaching the fundamentals of Oracle HCM consulting through its established AST Academy. AST offers a robust internship curriculum, taught by its most senior consultants, covering everything from the basics of consulting to solving complex business problems. Upon graduation from the AST Academy, consultants, working with their assigned mentors, shadow on current projects until they are fully ready to join a project.
During their internship in AST Academy, CHA residents gained valuable skills in STEM, and demonstrated how that talent benefits local organizations and develops business in Chicago. The interns were ultimately given the opportunity to continue their careers with AST and apply their newly acquired skills and experience as Associate Consultants.
