AST held its annual Thanksgiving dinner and celebration on Monday, November 23rd, at the Naperville home office.  Each year, employees come together with traditional Thanksgiving dishes, decorations, and an attitude of gratitude to enjoy a meal together at the office.  This year was no different.

Gathered together at one table, each person in the AST family had a moment to say what he or she is most thankful for this year.  As busy as we may get, we all enjoy this time of year for the sentiment and togetherness that it brings.

All of us at AST wish you and your family a very happy and heartfelt Thanksgiving!

bi-assessment
Today’s Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives must demonstrate solid and rapid results to business users and other stakeholders. Loosely-managed scope and poor planning can quickly derail a BI project. Effective project management and application of technology are key – but, so are planning and execution.
AST knows that the key to a successful IT project is the ability to integrate project management best practices, proven project lifecycle steps, and effective quality assurance activities within a structured framework.
The AST BI Assessment is a proven mechanism to mitigate risk, gain a sound understanding of the initiative’s scope, capture requirements, and ultimately establish a clear foundation to move forward.
Our concise offering rapidly leverages our proven methodology and approach, which is based on key projects and years of collective business and information technology experience. The AST BI Assessment provides current state analysis and assessment, business cases and priorities, BI roadmap development, recommendations, and an action plan.

AST believes in serving the community whenever possible. We recently had the opportunity to share our experience in Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS). A delegation from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) was recently in Chicago to attend the 2015 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference. AST hosted TMPD and coordinated a visit with the Chicago Police Department (CPD).
On Thursday, October 22nd, AST shared its experience and best practices in CJIS with the delegation, which included Oracle, NEC, and sworn inspectors from TMPD. We discussed how Oracle technology played a key role in the success of the Chicago Police Department’s efforts in reducing crime. AST provided guidance to Oracle and NEC on how they can assist the TMPD in building a technical platform that would strengthen their ability to combat crime.
cjisOn Friday, October 23rd, AST and TMPD visited the Chicago Police Department Headquarters. There, TMPD and CPD shared information and lessons learned about how technology can be used to make the community safer, as well as improve the safety of the officers. We discussed how CJIS Fusion Centers are used to analyze and react to events as they occur in real time. We also looked at how technology in the field is used, including Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) and mobile devices. A cornerstone topic was CJIS security and compliance.
AST believes that by sharing our experience and best practices in CJIS with law enforcement agencies, we are helping to make our community a better and safer place for everyone.
