AST Hosts Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department
AST believes in serving the community whenever possible. We recently had the opportunity to share our experience in Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS). A delegation from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) was recently in Chicago to attend the 2015 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference. AST hosted TMPD and coordinated a visit with the Chicago Police Department (CPD).
On Thursday, October 22nd, AST shared its experience and best practices in CJIS with the delegation, which included Oracle, NEC, and sworn inspectors from TMPD. We discussed how Oracle technology played a key role in the success of the Chicago Police Department’s efforts in reducing crime. AST provided guidance to Oracle and NEC on how they can assist the TMPD in building a technical platform that would strengthen their ability to combat crime.
On Friday, October 23rd, AST and TMPD visited the Chicago Police Department Headquarters. There, TMPD and CPD shared information and lessons learned about how technology can be used to make the community safer, as well as improve the safety of the officers. We discussed how CJIS Fusion Centers are used to analyze and react to events as they occur in real time. We also looked at how technology in the field is used, including Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) and mobile devices. A cornerstone topic was CJIS security and compliance.
AST believes that by sharing our experience and best practices in CJIS with law enforcement agencies, we are helping to make our community a better and safer place for everyone.
